3 nights in Cairo / Giza was a dream. The energy here feels otherworldly and mystical. It feels ancient, significant, and mysterious.
I went with 2 other girls for a long weekend. We stayed at City View Hotel and I highly recommend this place; it was very centrally located and affordable. They had an airport pick up and set us up with some great tours. We were within walking distance to alot of Cairo’s main attractions, although we did not do much wandering since we didn’t have time and were unsure of the safety.
Our tour guide Mady Osama from Lets Explore Egypt is still a friend today. He was hilarious and showed us the Giza plateau, the sphinx, the pyramids of Giza (which we entered), ancient tombs (we also entered), and other ancient burial sites and pyramids. He also showed us to essential oil shops, jewelry stores, papyrus art stores, and more around Cairo. If you love essential oils like I do, Cairo is essential oil haven. I love the lotus flower and black narcissus oil I found from Siwa Perfumes.
We did another tour of the Mosque of Muhammad Ali, The Hanging Church, and the Egyptian Museum. This was not through Mady. These were all some of the best things I’ve ever seen while traveling. Old Cairo is like walking back into biblical times and Giza is like visiting another planet all together. As an American these places just felt very otherworldly.
*This is not a city I would recommend trying to navigate alone. Definitely hire a tour guide.
Words can not describe how incredible this experience was to me. I feel a major connection to Egypt and it’s sacred history. I will be going back to this incredible place soon.
